About

Pop culture has been for years and years lead by many iconic artists, but somehow representation has  always lacked.

  • 10 year old me would wonder why J. Lo was in the cover of every magazine for a song she stole from Ashanti - a black woman- while Ashanti was getting her complains ignored. 15 year old me was a big fan of Fifth Harmony, and when news of Camila Cabello being racist towards her Normani Kordei, her bandmate came out, I was so shocked, I even thought her career would be over, who can survive scandals like that... right? 21 year old me still wonders how she managed to score 2 number 1 singles after the news broke out!
  • I ended up understanding that a lot of internalized racism is present in most industries, in this case women of color would tend to be ignored and would have to work 10x times harder than their white counterparts to receive praise and to show the world they are "worth" it... and no one really cares or even notices? With the current climate, it is only right to create a platform giving better and fairer exposure to different artists and exposing situations where unacceptable response or behavior has been targeted towards WOC.

Pop culture is the best kind of entertainment, it never stops, it's always here for you.
